Two things:
1. Should the "asshat concept" put in for an early retirement? It's difficult to search properly because few people use the right terms (either in the posting or as keywords), and it's not really fair when people who don't post THEIR OWN threads come out of the woodwork to point out that yours have been done before. It stunts the 'organic' growth of the forum and makes n00bs afraid to post, as there's little way they could be as well-versed on HS and Cruel history.
2. WTF is this side-banner?

The asshat, from the French chapeau d'âne, refers to the historic incident in Aix-en-Provence in 1372 when a farmer (whose name is now lost to us) first placed a charming, but small straw hat upon the head of his beloved donkey Esmerelde to protect her from the strong sun of southern France as she toiled in the fields with her grateful master. Only moments after doing so, however, the farmer's wife appeared and shouted "Vous êtes un imbécile! L'âne a utilisé l'année dernière ce chapeau et il n'est plus à la mode!"
The farmer, and the donkey needless to say, were properly embarrassed and since then, rehashing old ideas has since been known as the "ass hat".
In other words, Pale, the asshat has a long and noble lineage and I, for one, refuse to buckle under to current, milquetoast standards and will adhere to that which is right and true.
Oh, and I have no idea from where that picture comes.

My mind keeps trying to recontextualize it (like "It's OK, it's a Wiggles concert, Star Search or something, and they're singing about a monster who eats ugly shirts"). I think this is because it is 'offensive' or 'shocking,' tho only in the "Would I really want someone to know I regularly patronized a site with that as a graphic" kinda way. I guess it fits within the parameters of HS, and I'm just overly sensitive to it, because, well, you know.
