Curiosity, naturally, leads me to speculate which holes they used for what.

I was thinking this was a hat because the same thing was posted last year, but it must have been some other kid lopping off a corpse head to make a skull bong. If I recall correctly he got caught because he was bragging about it.

This seems like an awful lot of work for a bong; I just get my bongs down at the head shop.

A friend of my neighbor's recently moved to SF, leaving behind (for some reason) about 6-8 bowls, bongs, and blown glass pipes (sorry, no skulls). The neighbor cannot possibly use all of these, but their predictable condition makes them impossible to resell. Any thoughts on how to unload? Most of them are what I would call 'pretty,' but I haven't the slightest clue what happens to these things after their original owners have moved along...

I dunno what the secondhand market is like, but if they're all glass then you should be able to soak 'em in acetone for a while, then give 'em a quick pass through the dishwasher to get the resin off. If they're acrylic this will turn them into a puddle of goo.

Two things, real quick:
Minutes?...Looks like almost half an hour to me.
Twenty-odd minutes is still "minutes." This may be the chronologically closest hatting in the history of this fucked-up community. You're both winners!
And Pale:
their predictable condition makes them impossible to resell.
My experience with a product called GooGone leads me to believe that it's your solution. It's available in most supermarkets, Wal-Mart, etc. I've never personally used it to clean a bong, but I have used it for a variety of other messes, including getting tar off the windows of my car. So far it has not failed me; it has not damaged any surface I've used it on (including acrylic), and I recommend it for resin. If you try it, let me know if it works.

Oh, yeah, googone works on resin pretty good, plus it's based on citric acid so it has a pleasant orange scent.
for a large job I still recommend the acetone.

GooGone is the best product ever (I have 2 boys to scrape up after), but I never thought to use it for paraphenalia.
I soak the stems and pipes in rubbing alcohol in an old mixing bowl I use for the purpose, and fill the bong with it. I think GooGone will work much better.

GooGone is great stuff, but I *have* seen it mess up some plastics, particularly polystyrene. Although it is true that it contains citrus, it also contains petroleum solvents, and that's what eats styrene and other plastics (and also why it smells like paint thinner).
To be safe, try alcohol stove fuel first (aka denatured alcohol) - you can get it at Lowes/Home Depo or pretty much any hardware store. It is a much better solvent than rubbing alcohol and will dissolve a great many organic resins, including pot. For example, denatured alcohol is great for removing pine tar from your car and for removing the scum that builds up on fireplace windows... heck, it will even remove uncured polyester resin when doing glassfibre work. And I've never seen alcohol damage plastics.
In a related story, this makes me want to top myself.

Excellent suggestions, guys. Acetone should have occurred to me to mention (obviously, not for anything plastic-based). I'll let him know and report back if he has any success. It seems like such a shame that there's nothing that will "get the tar out" while reserving it for...koff koff...later use. Oh, well. Can't have your cake and smoke it too, I suppose.
That article seems like propaganda to me, tho. It is apparently very easy to deliberately misconstrue the meanings of various behaviors and effects, either by statistics or anecdotal evidence (and usually with both). On the bright side of things for everyone's Friday, the Second Largest US Physicians Group Endorses Medical Marijuana.

Well, using grain alcohol one can then reclaim the resin through evaporation, but you'll also get anonymous bong goo in your halfassed hash oil. I'm not sure I'd feel comfortable evaporating denatured alcohol out of something I planned to inhale.
Also, TSG has the police report on the head. Turns out the cop found out about it while investigating an unrelated credit card fraud.
During the BMV investigation, officers served an arrest warrant on the defendant Matthew Gonzalez, and questioned him on the abuse of a corpse incident that occurred in the city limits of Humble. Upon speaking with the defendant Matthew Gonzalez about this incident, he regurgitated into a plate of food that he was eating and ultimately confirmed the incident,

Hippy crack. Nothing wrong with it. Scrape those bongs before you clean them. It's all the tar that missed your lungs, not to mention rasta-santa's sack of toys for debauched, besotted girls and boys. Somebody paid for that shit - don't waste it. Mmmm...hippy crack.

No, there's nothing wrong with it, especially if you vaporize it instead of burning it like a fucking caveman. I was mostly concerned about hippy crack made with denatured alcohol, as I wouldn't trust that stuff not to be full of benzene or heavy metals or somesuch. Grain alcohol's a bit more expensive, but at least you know it's food-grade, and you can always rig a ten dollar condenser coil and reclaim it for later use.
The best use for grain alcohol, though, is the making of the Green Dragon. It tastes like chlorophyll and burning and hits like Mike Tyson driving a freight train.
...er... so I, uh, hear. On the inter-nets. Yes.

Used to do something similar - made our own absinthe and dropped a fat kola in each bottle. Found some not that long ago that had been sitting for over 20 years. Three of us tried it, two threw up. I got pretty stoned, but the wormwood and whatever other herbs we'd put in there had become inedibly bitter - the buzz wasn't worth the emesis.
