Every summer our woods fill with cranberry pickers, ominously called 'Bog People', because the growers are too cheap to house or pay them a living wage. When pickers hurt themselves on the job, they're fucked. The union doesn't want them. About half are white, late teen kids mostly. I've talked to several, bonafide US residents, and they were not stupid, though why they endure thankless, oppressive work like that is beyond me.

Two who were fleeing town same time last fall I was were on their way to 'winter' in the same small Arizona town where Decadence lives.
