A million monkeys couldn't write what you have to say. But a million and one may be able to do what you do. And sooner than later.

Forget about old videos of bugbots created with ancient FPS game engines,

We live today in the marvel of a golden dawn. The rise of the Xenobots has begun.

Amazing science’: researchers find xenobots can give rise to offspring

“These things move around in the dish and make copies of themselves,” said Prof Josh Bongard, of the University of Vermont, a co-author of the research

Now researchers say they have found that clusters of frog cells can undergo a form of replication never before seen in plants or animals. The spherical clumps, known as xenobots, can give rise to “offspring” by sweeping up loose cells and swashing them into yet more clusters.

Xenobots were first announced last year, and are what are known as “living robots”– synthetic lifeforms made by taking a few thousand cells from frog embryos and assembling them into clusters about 1mm in size.

Xenobots have no digestive system or neurons, and naturally fall apart after about two weeks. Bongard said the xenobots in the current study could propel themselves around using hair-like projections called cilia.

“They definitely do not grow into frogs, they actually keep the form that we impose on them. And they look and act in ways very different from normal frog,” he said

I for one welcome our Sentient AI Overlords.

Except, maybe all that was promised is not as it seems?

An therein lies the rub. When I read this, It begins to sound like the same old base craven story of exploitation to make a buck off your hide.  And I think of all those posts of Dusty's where the writer refers people tp make sure they are organizing themselves as working communities to protect themselves from exploitation.

There are profit motives for these narratives: The stated goals of many researchers and research firms in AI are to build “artificial general intelligence,” an imagined system more intelligent than anything we have ever seen, that can do any task a human can do tirelessly and without pay. While such a system hasn’t actually been shown to be feasible, never mind a net good, corporations working toward it are already amassing and labeling large amounts of data, often without informed consent and through exploitative labor practices.

The drive toward this end sweeps aside the many potential unaddressed harms of LLM systems. And ascribing “sentience” to a product implies that any wrongdoing is the work of an independent being, rather than the company — made up of real people and their decisions, and subject to regulation — that created it.

That robot has to be destroyed, right?  The first law should have prevented it from happening.

So, it’s regrettable that despite lengthy engagement on this topic, Blake still chose to persistently violate clear employment and data security policies that include the need to safeguard product information.

So AI is writing adverts now? I think this is probably BS, but you never know. More than likely an ignorant staffer without any knowledge of history.
