I just voted for a negro AND for a tax increase (1% sales tax to pay for sewage and water renovations - I'm a sucker for infrastructure).

I feel so... so LIBERAL.

Well, you'll get what you paid for.  Best of luck.

BTW, when you let me know what his actual plans are, in detail, will you let me know?  'Cause I haven't seen any.

Ah, the beloved ear-marked tax increase in ballot initiative scam.  Everybody votes for it thinking it's temporary as if the sales tax will go back down once the ear-marked improvements are completed.  And then nobody notices when they don't.

Actually, I think it's gonna be Hillary considering the VP position... Obama has incredible momentum just now, and there's a long way to go yet... it can only get bigger.  Frankly, I think the only way they can stop him now is to catch him in bed with a 12-year-old gay dwarf.

I heard one older black guy leaving the polls being interviewed and he said, 'It was close between Hillary and Obama for me, but I had to think about how I would look back on my vote, and after all this time waiting for a black man to run for president... well, I just had to vote for him.'

I think you're going to see this rampant come November.  No matter *what* his policy or plans are, the black vote will be nearly 100% for Obama.

I'm just preparing to leave and go to the polls myself. As usual in California there are a large number of propositions on the ballot (I'm voting no, no, yes, yes, yes, yes) and as for the candidates of the female persuasion and the Negro persuasion, I may have to flip a coin. Now, do I use a quarter or do I use that big Canadian twoonie in my change jar, you know, for objectivity? So many decisions...

Here in my county many tax increase bond issues are not just ballot initiatives but required by law to be voter approved.

You are right though, I can't recall ever seeing a tax decrease ( particularly sales tax) even though after 15 years many of the  bond issue projects I voted for have been paid off.

Ah Phred, one good troll deserves another:

It is nice he was a Guvnur, not so nice what his record as Guvnur was. I am sure his consultant-centric approach to management will serve him well.

To hear the candidate himself tell it, Mr. Romney believes above all in "data." As he told us on a visit, his management style includes "wallowing" in data about a problem, analyzing that data like the business consultant he once was, and then using it to devise a solution. A major theme of his candidacy is that he'll bring that business model to a "broken" Washington, apply it to Congress and the bureaucracy, and thus triumph over gridlock and the status quo.

To which we'd say: Good luck with that. Washington's problem isn't a lack of data, or a failure to calibrate the incentives as in the business world. Congress and the multiple layers of government respond exactly as you'd expect given the incentives for self-preservation and turf protection that always exist in political institutions. The only way to overcome them is with leadership on behalf of good ideas backed by public support. The fact that someone as bright as Mr. Romney doesn't recognize this Beltway reality risks a Presidency that would get rolled quicker than you can say Jimmy Carter.

All the more so because we haven't been able to discern from his campaign, or his record in Massachusetts, what his core political principles are. Mr. Romney spent his life as a moderate Republican, and he governed the Bay State that way after his election in 2002. While running this year, however, he has reinvented himself as a conservative from radio talk show-casting,

One thing I've learned, I'm never getting a tax cut of any kind.  Never.  Neither are almost any of the rest of us.  That's not so bad for me--taxes are kind of like the dues I pay to belong to this club called the representative democracy in the United States of America.  I don't even mind supporting those below me on the SE scale--I feel as humans we are all entitled to a certain minimum expectation of food, shelter, clothing, and protection from the elements of nature and baser members of our group.  What pisses me off, however, is when those who already have so much, exempt themselves by way of legal and extra-legal tricks from the responsibility that comes with having more than they need and being a part of our club, then finding ways to take more from those paying into the system, taking away from those we agreed need our help, and lining their pockets with it.  No, it's not the taxes I'm paying, that I'll continue to pay, and that will continue to rise for me that I worry about.  Instead, I'm watching my legislators to see where they are sending my money.  And I'll tell you, I've not been happy with what they're doing for many years now.  Unfortunately, entirely too many of my neighbors are caught up with empty words about "terrorist threats", gay marriage, and brown people with leprosy flooding our country to notice that our society is being robbed blind and bankrupted by these policies, promoted by those who are in government and tell us government can't work.  Well, no shit, if you don't believe your job can be done properly, you won't do it properly and you sure as hell won't hire anyone who could, either.

Romney's "business" experience:  buying companies, firing the workers, selling off the assets.  Sounds like what Dumbya's been doing for the last eight years to our country.  Worked great for our military, too (Blackwater, anyone?  and why the hell should my church have to be fundraising to buy body armor for our soldiers?)

Not for me Johnny.  I'm not really considering TM.  I couldn't sit still for 20 minutes every day pondering my bellybutton, let alone come up with $2500 to learn how.  I might pay for a heavenly spot in a new religion that offered all the perks, like life everlasting, a new virgin every day, etc, but I would need something more than faith alone as proof to pry open the old wallet.

Valhalla (Old Norse Valhöll, "Hall of the Slain") is Odin's hall in Norse mythology, located in the Asgardian realm of Gladsheim and is the home for those slain gloriously in battle (known as Einherjar) who are welcomed by Bragi and escorted to Valhalla by the valkyries.

The main gate of Valhalla is called Valgrind, which is described in Grímnismál as a "sacred gate", behind which are the "holy doors" and "there are few who can tell the manner by which it is locked".

The hall itself has 540 doors, so wide that 800 warriors could walk through side-by-side. It is said that there is room enough for all those chosen. Here, every day, the slain warriors who will assist Odin in Ragnarök, the gods' final conflict with the giants, arm themselves for battle and ride forth by the thousands to engage in combat on the plains of Asgard. Those who die in the fighting will be brought back to life. At night, they return to Valhalla to feast on the boar and drink intoxicating drink

As is common with many in our busy lifestyles, by my 30s I couldn't sit still for 20 minutes if my life counted on it. Relearning how to be still had a profound effect. It didn't cost me any lucre or allegience either as I just followed a few tips from friends who had worked in the field observing wildlife. If you can be still and watchfull long enough in the same place for the local nature to fall back to a baseline you often find your inner baseline.

“It is required of every man,” the Ghost returned, “that the spirit within him should walk abroad among his fellowmen, and travel far and wide; and if that spirit goes not forth in life, it is condemned to do so after death. It is doomed to wander through the world—oh, woe is me!—and witness what it cannot share, but might have shared on earth, and turned to happiness!”

Again the spectre raised a cry, and shook its chain and wrung its shadowy hands.

“You are fettered,” said Scrooge, trembling. “Tell me why?”

“I wear the chain I forged in life,” replied the Ghost. “I made it link by link, and yard by yard; I girded it on of my own free will, and of my own free will I wore it. Is its pattern strange to you?”

Scrooge trembled more and more.

“Or would you know,” pursued the Ghost, “the weight and length of the strong coil you bear yourself? It was full as heavy and as long as this, seven Christmas Eves ago. You have laboured on it, since. It is a ponderous chain!”

Scrooge glanced about him on the floor, in the expectation of finding himself surrounded by some fifty or sixty fathoms of iron cable: but he could see nothing.

“Jacob,” he said, imploringly. “Old Jacob Marley, tell me more. Speak comfort to me, Jacob!”

“I have none to give,” the Ghost replied. “It comes from other regions, Ebenezer Scrooge, and is conveyed by other ministers, to other kinds of men. Nor can I tell you what I would. A very little more is all permitted to me. I cannot rest, I cannot stay, I cannot linger anywhere. My spirit never walked beyond our counting-house—mark me!—in life my spirit never roved beyond the narrow limits of our money-changing hole; and weary journeys lie before me!”

You guys are so full of shit.  What kind of plan are you looking for?  His plan for the economyHealth care?  The Iraq War?

None of the candidates get sound bites on the news about what the specifics of their plans are, so unless you're actually going to their speaking engagements you might have to actually look somewhere.  Barack Obama was the first person to come out with a comprehensive strategy for getting out of Iraq, long before people jumped all over the candidates not saying for certain that they would have us out of Iraq within one year.  He has detailed plans for all of the major issues, and it's fine if you disagree with them, but right now you're just repeating a stupid meme.

I agree regarding their beliefs.  I mean, how could someone buy into old Joseph Smith's claim that God instructs everyone to store their excess goods in Joe's barn?  However, and just by coincidence, my attorney, doctor, and dentist are all Mormons.  They are hard-working conciencious people.  They're good at business but don't try to screw others.  I'm only speaking of those I know personally.  I'm sure there are bad apples out there, but my experience with Mormons has been good.  I have, however, heard that you can't sell pencils in parts of Utah and Southern Idaho unless you're Mormon.

No, it's one of Romney's telemarketers....guess he hasn't heard Romney's wife said FUCK NO, YOU ARE NOT LOSING ANYMORE MONEY....
Still, his excuse that he would rather not be a part of the "surrender to terrorism" is so fucking lame.  He's just trying to find a niche in McCain's ass...maybe he should move into that sublet on the side of McCain's face....to have those two in office would be an exact repeat of the last 8 years...just reversed, age-wise, that is.
