Don't I know it. I read a lot of Flashman novels in my youth. From what I understand, the only thing scarier than a Gurkha regiment was a Highland regiment. But face it, from the Spartans and the Janissaries to the Gurkhas and the Marines, they all march to the same sweet analphilic melody:

"There's a boy across the river

But alas, I cannot swim"

Army life is historicallly and inherently gay.
Not that there's anything wrong with that.
It's just kind of odd.
Until you think about it.
And then it makes sense.
