Navigation, escaping from here to anywhere else, was an early obsession for me as a kid of 11 and fueled entirely by the one Christmas gift my old man neglected to rewrap for some more deserving child.
I obsessed over that astrolabe a month before I cracked the code and taught myself trigonometry in the process.
