Wouldn't it be nice if we could find an airborne variant of plague that is specific to religious nut-jobs of all flavours only.

Unfortunately, disease can’t be trained to attack according to a set of guidelines. Actually, this is a good thing; if one disease attacked according to my biases and others attacked based on other people’s biases, almost everyone would be fucked.
Microorganisms are able to trade DNA across species lines, so an organism that is happy eating cow shit seasoned with antibiotics can trade DNA with a species that attacks humans. This would be the equivalent of my trading DNA with a pot plant and gaining the abilities to photosynthesize food and produce THC. Almost all of us are here because we survived a formerly fatal childhood illness because of antibiotics, are the child of someone who survived childhood because of antibiotics, or were never exposed to serious disease in the first place because antibiotics made many diseases uncommon.

This is hardly the only crop crashing scenario but they've seen this one coming more than 50 years, almost since antibiotic day one. Our greed and stupidity knows no bounds.

Have to agree with ya Fnord. I would have died at birth 100 years ago, even if I had been a viable zygote...
Modern medicine is most definitely why I'm still here. Because the concept of natural selection is so foreign and abhorrent to modern man, we find ourselves at this juncture. I hope this doesn't happen during my lifetime, but I wouldn't be surprised. It appears that the producers of these "miracle drugs" were hoping they were just that. Not researching in depth, or even recognizing the possibilities of such "noble pursuits".
While I don't believe it is possible to devise a bacteria or organism to target a specific group, I do believe it is possible to introduce such vectors into any given populace. I hope there are no individuals or organizations that have the resources or inclination to undertake such endeavors.
Bottom line, we are already plummeting down a slippery-slope into a quagmire of mutated, diseased, and festering humanity.
And to think everyone is so consumed with this little Bush/Iraq debacle..... Priorities, where the fuck are they?
EDIT, Sorry if I sounded like Pale....

My mother broke my heart the other day. She said she had 3 miscarriages before having me. I wished I was one of them. I have no stomach for the real cruelty of this world. This world makes me sick.

Modern medicine. You're saying its a good thing ? You wonder why healthcare costs so much ? Expensive machines keeping the dead alive.
Not putting down a sick dog is cruelty. Human euthenasia, despite all suffering, is blasphemy. Billions squandered on living corpses that could do so much good elsewhere.
Life extension. The biggest disaster we have to face. We can't feed who's already here. We want the greedy and selfish to consume forever, while encouraging the turd world to breed like rabbits.
I watch the yuppies every day. No thinking. No feeling. No thought about anyone except the self.
We need a good plague to put things back in perspective.
