Last week I satisfied one of my lifetime goals and have completed all of the Colorado 14ers. It took most of my free time over the last 3 years.

I hadn't considered the snow pack theory before I climbed it. It was awesome there but I still don't think I will try it again even with snow. Best to not tempt fate. I am going to try Manaslu again next fall. Already have failed twice. That shit gets expensive.

The first time I got sick and had to come down. The second time the weather didn't let us get above camp 3.

The first time I took a helicopter right to Samagoan and didn't really spend enough time to acclimatize but the second time I hiked in from Arughat over 8 days. I felt great that time but cyclone turned to blizzard which turned to Avys and our Sherpa turned us around. He let us go from camp one right to camp 3 which was brutal but he was trying to get us to the summit before bad weather came in. "Slept" at camp three and came the whole way down the next morning. Heli to Kathmandu and then spent 3 days fucked up on Tuborg Beer. It was still a great trip.

I went back over there last fall and just did a trek from Arughat to basecamp and then went and did Thapa Peak. There is room for 2 more next Sept/Oct if you feel up to it. 30 days and around $18,000 but they haven't given me the exact price yet. I am half heartedly trying to get the other two spots filled because it will bring the price per person down a bit.

Notice how many cumdrops in the comments mention that they hit, but couldn't find, a deer.

One redneck shitheel even said he was "relieve" that he at least got a picture of the wounded deer on his game camera since he couldn't find the fuckin thing.

Besides, the best part of deer hunting is the reading you get done whilst listening for your prey.  It's deer, you don't have to hide, just be still of heart & mind while remaining open of ear and eye.  Got my best buck while working my way through Nabokov's tripe.

This is why the state of Ohio, which occasionally has a good idea, only allows shotguns be used for hunting.  They didn't want Farmer Brown to get capped 2 miles away because some yay-hoo in the woods shot his 30-06 at an elevation higher that 90 degrees.

Well, you can also use "Punkin' Balls" in the shotguns for deer hunting.  I haven't been back since we moved my folks down here but I'm sure it's still one big farm with some insignificant cities dotted here and there.  And to think that Cleveland, after WWII, was the third largest city in the US.

Last year during Pennsylvania's bear season I was cutting firewood in my back yard. I was wearing a black hoodie. I live on a hill in the laurel highlands and my yard is surrounded by woods for a long, long way. It is all posted for no hunting.

     A hunter, trespassing on my private property, came up behind me while my saw was running and waited until I shut it off and turned around. He said:  " That's a good way to getcher self shot, out in the woods wearing black in the middle of bear season." 

     I said:  "No, THIS is a good way to get yourself shot. If I am still able to see you when I come back out of the house with my gun, that is exactly what is going to happen."  He called the police and said I threatened him. They came and busted him for trespassing. I have never called the police in my life, ever. I don't trust them, but that cop made my fucking day.
