I first encountered his wares back before when, and it set my head on fire in the classic sense. I give thanks for his works, it helped to free a lot of people.

His gifts were many, and I was a grateful recipient as well. He spent a little time in Charlottesville, but I don't think an engineering curriculum could contain him. He was a very generous, ingenious and interesting man, versed in the ways of the flesh and sound.

He could be a bit tetchy, and sometimes kinda grumpy. OTOH, a generous soul, a quick wit, and someone who really thought outside of the lines.

I had the pleasure of first sampling his wares in 1967 when I lived in San Francisco. He was a counterculture guru of the highest order.
